Keep Warm and Dry With Scuba Sportswear
If you do go scuba diving then there will be a lot of time spent out of the water preparing equipment and travelling to dive spots. It is important that you have the right clothing to keep you warm and comfortable during these times.
Regular clothes may not be able to stand up to the more extreme conditions you can face when out on boats or waiting around on the shore. Here you will need high performance clothes that can protect your from the wind, rain and cold. Even if it starts out as a nice day when you go scuba diving the weather can soon change and you could be facing very different conditions. This is why it is so important to be prepared and have the right clothing for the time you spend out of the water as well as in it.
Here are some basic sportswear items that could come in handy during your scuba diving adventures:
- T-shirt or Vest – if the weather is good you will want a lightweight t-shirt or vest that can keep you cool. A good sports shirt will be able to wick moisture away from your skin and will also provide more protection against wind chill. You can wear sports t-shirts and vests underneath jumpers and jackets for an extra layer in cooler conditions. If you are diving in cold conditions then you could wear a thermal vest which could also be used underneath your wetsuit for an additional layer of thermal insulation.
-Jacket – a high performance jacket will be an essential part of your scuba kit. Sportswear jackets designed for use out on the water will be lightweight and provide superior protection against wind chill, rain and water spray. A regular jacket may not be enough to protect you against the cooler, wetter conditions even if you wear a jumper and vest underneath.
-Extreme Weather Jacket and Trousers – this is also known as foul weather gear. A thick waterproof jacket and pair of trousers may not be always necessary but you do need to be prepared in case you experience bad weather. Extreme weather clothing will keep you warm and dry and could literally be a lifesaver to protect you from some very challenging conditions out on the water.
-Sturdy Shoes or Boots – if you are going diving then you will need a good pair of boots or shoes to wear. These will provide you with grip when you are moving around in slippery conditions (on deck or on the shore) and will also help to keep your feet dry.
